For investor relations teams, proactive communication and engagement with investors is crucial for their sustainable business ambitions and transitions. The World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) has produced an investor relations guidance tear sheet series, providing the essential information companies need to know and examples from leading companies on investor targeting and engagement, data and messaging and capital market days and roadshows.
In this first guidance, companies will learn how to prepare effective ESG investor roadshows and capital markets days. Investor roadshows and capital markets days provide tried and tested opportunities for direct contact with investors and these formats can be adapted for sustainability purposes.
The guidance was prepared in collaboration with SRI Connect’s Sustainable IR and members of WBCSD’s CFO Network. WBCSD’s CFO Network brings together 60 CFOs from across all sectors and geographies – together representing over USD 1.5 trillion in combined revenue and over 3 million employees. Under its Capital Market Engagement workstream, members of the CFO Network are working together to advance sustainable investor relations best practices and guidance and explore sustainability in valuation and develop sustainable finance opportunities.
Mercedes-Benz, a member of the CFO Network, provided a case study on their recent experience hosting a sustainability focused capital markets day.
Soon, this tear sheet along with others in the series, will be compiled for easy access for investor relations teams and other stakeholders improving their engagement strategy around sustainability.
