The World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) is a global community of CEOs, C-Suite executives and sustainability leaders from more than 225 of the world’s leading businesses. Together, our membership represent combined revenues in excess of US$5 trillion, work with 100,000s of suppliers and employ millions of people around the world.

As the world turns to businesses for sustainable solutions, ‘our’ shared intent is to drive systems transformation that helps create a better world in which 9+ billion people can live well, within planetary boundaries, by mid-century. By driving transformative solutions into value chains based on science, data and cross-sector collaboration we aim to limit the impact of the climate crisis, restore nature and tackle inequality.

We recognize that trust and recognition will grow by business being accountable for their performance towards climate, nature and equity targets. That is the way sustainability gets done. By tackling both the solutions and the accountability we are the credible business-driven partner in the sustainability ecosystem.

Our vision is to build a world where nine billion people are living well and within the boundaries of the planet, by 2050.

Our mission and vision are ambitious. Driving long-term, sustainable change across our highly complex and interconnected world is not easy. No problem exists in isolation, and incremental change is no longer sufficient to fix the world’s most pressing challenges.
