India is transitioning fast. Faced with major challenges in air quality, water scarcity and access to basic education and health provision, it is home to a young population of more than one-sixth of the world’s population. By 2030, India’s middle class will be the largest in the world, representing an estimated USD $6 trillion growth opportunity for businesses in the next decade. At the same time, how India generates and consumes energy is changing rapidly, and the country is gearing up to transform both its built environment and how waste is managed.
Businesses have a critical role and opportunity in shaping these transitions in ways that build India’s competitiveness and inclusivity, and to secure sustainable profits and growth.
To facilitate discussions on this, WBCSD has organized a full-day of workshops covering forward-looking topics such as the future of farming, electric mobility in cities, ESG risks and on WBCSD’s Vision 2050.
