Santiago, 23 August 2018: How will companies adapt to climate change? This is a highly relevant question in Chile, which is among the top ten countries most vulnerable to its effect.
In that spirit, Acción Empresas, WBCSD’s Global Network partner in Chile, organized its annual meeting around “learning by sharing” insights presented by leading national and international companies in the area of adaptation to an audience of around 1,000 people.
The meeting featured Chile’s Minister of Economy, José Ramón Valente, alongside Henk Ovink, Special Envoy for International Water Affairs for the Kingdom of the Netherlands, René Garreaud, climatologist at the Universidad de Chile, Narcís Berberana, CEO of Aguas Andinas, and a CEO-level panel composed by representatives from Antofagasta Minerals, Colbún, CMPC, Emiliana, and Bolsa de Comercio de Santiago.
“We must incorpórate Climate change into our Risk mappings, understand the magnitude of this phenomenon, its implications for the future of our businesses and focus on transforming risks into Opportunities”, said Charles Kimber, President of Acción Empresas.
The sense of urgency was underscored in a short video displayed at the event, and backed by roundtable discussions following the plenary sessions.
