Beijing, 28 September 2018: China BCSD, part of WBCSD’s Global Network, held its Liaison Delegate Meeting, which hosted in Beijing. Two dozen senior executives from China BCSD board and member companies e.g. Sinopec, DSM, State Grid, LafargeHolcim, Dupont, Dow, Corteva, CIMC, Veolia, Schneider Electric, Evonik, Arconic, UPM, DeTao, ABB and Mitsui Chemicals, attended the meeting.
China BCSD reported on its work review during the first half of 2018 and laid out the road ahead. It also shared progress on China Corporate Sustainability Index and China Corporate Sustainability Data Exchange, released at the 2018 Top 500 Enterprises Summit. These three releases are groundbreaking in their respective domains in China. The launching received good results and was reported by over 40 national media such as Economic Daily, China Net, China News, China Enterprise News, Economic Observer Network, Guangming, as well as Xinhua News Agency.
Mr. Zhang Jianyu, Chief Representative of Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) in China and Director of China Low Carbon Alliance, joined the meeting and briefed members on the status of international climate policies. Mr. Zhai Qi, Executive Secretary General of CBCSD, chaired the meeting.
Earlier in September, led by Sinopec, China BCSD and WBCSD organized a scoping visit to Xiong’an with the aim of officially launching the Low-Emission Economic Partnership (LEEP) Xiong’an project. LEEP is a strategic initiative to bring together a cross-sectoral group of companies and some selected cities to jointly drive greenhouse gas emissions reduction projects through a new type of public-private partnership. Representatives from China BCSD and WBCSD members incl. Sinopec, State Grid, SPIC, SABIC, Schneider Electric, Veolia, Arcadis, and Baker McKenzie joined the scoping meeting.
