Paris, 21 September 2020: Following up on the pledge of “Putting the environment at the core of an economic recovery” signed by more than 90 French business leaders, the Boston Consulting Group, in partnership with the Association Française des Entreprises pour l’Environnement (EpE), WBCSD’s Global Network partner in France, carried out a ground-breaking survey between April and May of 40 French business leaders drawn from different industries and sectors.
The resulting study, titled Ecological transition and resilience: Keys to the post-Covid-19 economic recovery, takes the pulse of companies in the midst of a health crisis, and is the first of its kind to examine overall trends from an environmental perspective:
- How do we keep up the environmental momentum and take the long view in a tense and uncertain short-term economic context?
- How do we stay the course on ecological transition and ensure its resilience?
These are the questions BCG sought to explore with EpE and the companies interviewed and to which the study offers a meaningful answer: the search for resilience and the need for an economic recovery can and must be made compatible with the ecological transition.
