Lima, 3 December 2018: Peru 2021, WBCSD’s Global Network partner in Peru, has launched “Peru Sostenible”, a program aimed at mobilizing over 100 companies and 40 thousand people around the imperative of developing business solutions in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Developed in partnership with the United Nations, KPMG and the major Peruvian media platform El Comercio, the program positions the SDGs as a framework of 17 goals to tackle Peru’s most pressing social, economic and environmental challenges in the lead up to 2030.
“Sustainable Peru” will most notably be built around visibility for projects and solutions that are contributing to the SDGs as well as action-oriented roundtables through which companies, the public sector, and civil society will engage in “learning by sharing” activities that can catalyze additional actions at scale.
Peru 2021 advocates that business will have a critical role to play in the realization of this agenda, and can leverage the SDGs as a framework to translate needs and ambitions into business solutions. In turn, companies that are able to embrace this agenda and develop a clear understanding of their interactions with the SDGs will ultimately be better placed to unlock market opportunities, consolidate an enduring license to operate and manage risks on the path to 2030.
