Madrid, 28 September: The eighth edition of ESG Spain 2020 was held on 23 September. This business meeting has established itself as the benchmark forum on sustainability in Spain, exceeding more than 1,500 attendees in this year's edition, who were able to follow the 18 interventions by the main opinion leaders both at the international and national levels, addressing environmental, social and good governance aspects.
With an Honor Committee chaired by H.M. King Felipe VI and made up of the main institutional and business authorities of the country, including the President of the Government, Mr. Pedro Sánchez; the President of the Congress of Deputies, Ms. Meritxell Batet, and the President of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, Mr. José Luis Bonet, 'ESG Spain 2020' was inaugurated by the Fourth Vice President and Minister for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, Ms. Teresa Ribera, delving into the importance of ensuring a sustainable recovery from the increase in business ambition, the acceleration of action and the construction of public-private alliances.
In addition, prominent speakers for their contribution to business sustainability participated, such as Mr. John Elkington, author of concepts such as ‘Green Swans’, the Triple Income Statement or the three ‘Ps’ (People, Planet and Profit); Ms. María Mendiluce, CEO of We Mean Business Coalition; and Mr. Nigel Topping, United Nations High-Level Climate Action Champion - COP26. For their part, the Governor of the Bank of Spain, Mr. Pablo Hernández de Cos, and the President of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, Mr. José Luis Bonet, have analyzed the present and future trends of Sustainability, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
