Wellington, New Zealand, 25 July 2018: The Sustainable Business Council (SBC), WBCSD’s Global Network partner in New Zealand, has released its annual snapshot of activities for the period 2017-2018.
The report looks at the year’s highlights from the climate, consumer decision-making, sustainable leadership and social impact work programs, and what's ahead for the next 12 months.
Peter Bakker, WBCSD’s President and CEO, penned a section titled “Business leadership in accelerating the transition to a sustainable world” for SBC’s publication. He underscored: “The world is going through massive transformation – not incremental or piece-by-piece evolution but disruptive change that is system-wide. If business can position itself to lead these transformations, it will deliver success both at company level and for the planet and the people on it. (…) Alongside SBC, we work with forward-looking companies to integrate sustainable system transformation at the core of their strategy, decision-making, and disclosures. Together, we can position business to lead this transformation and capture the opportunities that system change create.”
SBC currently regroups 89 member organizations, up from 79 last year, covering slightly over a quarter of New Zealand’s private sector GDP and 9% of New Zealand’s workforce.
