Hanoi, December 20, 2017 – VBCSD organized 22 training courses throughout the year, attracting over 2000 participants. These courses covered topics such as “Improving the Productivity of Vietnamese Businesses 2016-2020 towards 2020-2030”, “Promoting Sustainable Energy Through the Development of Sectoral Energy Vision”, and “Green Investment Guidelines for Financial Institutions in Vietnam”.
In October, VBCSD hosted the 4th Vietnam Corporate Sustainability Forum (VCSF) with the theme of “Scaling up Business Solution to Sustainability Challenges”. The Forum gathered a wide range of stakeholders, including senior government officials and more than 350 representatives from the local and international organizations, and the business sector.
Following the VCSF and the suggestion of the Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Vu Duc Dam, VBCSD established the Advisory Group on Sustainable Development and Digitalization Revolution to propose policy and action plan to address digitalization and support the business community in Vietnam to catch up with trends and changes. The Advisory Group conducted the Digital Evolution Vietnam Survey and prepared a report based on the survey’s findings making recommendations to the government and the business community.
Since 2016, VBCSD and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) initiated the program on “Benchmarking and Ranking the Most Sustainable Companies in Vietnam”. Nearly 500 companies in manufacturing and service-trading industries across Vietnam participated in the 2017 edition of the program and 100 best-performing companies were chosen to be in the ranking. In December, VCCI held a ceremony to applaud these companies and promote best-practices to help Vietnamese companies enhance their competitiveness and reputation.
