Buenos Aires, 6 April 2017: The Business Council for Sustainable Development Argentina (CEADS) and EY Argentina have launched comprehensive SDG Platform that walks companies through the sustainability landscape in the country by showcasing corporate initiatives and strategies that are directly aligned with the SDGs agenda.
By featuring existing initiatives and strategies of local companies’ alignment with the SDGs, CEADS and EY Argentina hope that the Platform will broaden the understanding of the business case implied with the SDGs, and thereby encourage the establishment of this agenda within corporate operations and cultures.
In addition to a dedicated section of approximately 50 concrete business initiatives, the Platform provides an outline of the historical background of the SDGs, as well as their implications for Argentina -from a policy and regulatory perspective. It also gives companies guidance on a number of tools that will strengthen the understanding of how to most effectively go about their SDGs implementation. The SDG Compass developed jointly by WBCSD, GRI and UNCG is one such example.
“The SDGs provide a historic opportunity for business to be part of the solution, by providing forward-thinking solutions and ambitious leadership in this space”, argued Sebastian Bigorito, Executive Director of CEADS, which is part of WBCSD’s Global Network of partner organizations. “Companies have the capacity to foster innovation (SDG 9), deliver best practices for decent work conditions and economic growth (SDG 8), and develop responsible production and consumption (SDG 12) patterns to drive progress.”
