About

The Czech BCSD is the largest national platform of entrepreneurs in Czech Republic focusing exclusively on sustainable development and the ESG agenda.  

Czech BCSD brings together leading Czech companies working together to accelerate the systemic transformations needed to achieve climate neutrality, regenerate the natural environment, increase the competitiveness of Czech production and achieve a high social standard for the Czech population 

Member of the Government Council for Sustainable Development - CBCSD is part of the platform for discussion of issues and preparation of reform proposals in the field of sustainability in the Czech Republic. 

Creator of transformative projects and initiatives in the field of sustainability – the RETHINK project (RETHINK - CBCSD), Vision 2050 (Czech Vision 2050 - main pillars and visions - CBCSD) and the ecosystem of CBCSD working groups in the field of sustainability 

Priorities

Vision: We aim for the ongoing systematic alignment of interests within the Czech business community towards the general theme of sustainability and particularly its measurable aspects (ESG). We connect the Czech business community with the Czech public sector on a full range of sustainability and ESG issues. We create space for informed dialogue and collaboration between entrepreneurs on one side and the public sector and civil society on the other side, with the aim of unifying positions on sustainability and ESG topics when addressing legislative, strategic, and conceptual measures at the EU and national levels. We are a constant active member of the Government Council for Sustainable Development and its committees, the Platform for Sustainable Finance of the Ministry of Finance of the Czech Republic, and other consultative structures, maintaining regular communication with other associations of the private and public sectors in the Czech Republic, such as the Chamber of Commerce, Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic, Banking Association of the Czech Republic, Association of Research-based Pharmaceutical Companies, Czech-Moravian Guarantee and Development Bank, Alliance for Emission-Free Future, Change for the Better, Czech Association of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, etc., as well as abroad through the network of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). We recognize the key role of sustainability in ensuring a prosperous and functional Czech society. 

Priorities:  

• Consultative support for the accelerated and quality transposition of the Fit for 55 package and key legislation in the field of measurable sustainability (ESG) into Czech law, policies, and strategies:  

• Informed dialogue on ESG and active communication across the business sector and with key partners in the public sector  

• Harmonization of approaches to calculating carbon footprints across companies 

• Dissemination of good international practice from WBCSD  

• Engagement of members in WBCSD activities  

• Feedback from CBCSD working groups 

• RETHINK initiative and possibilities for its expansion to the entire theme of measurable sustainability (ESG)  

• Activities within consultative structures in the Czech Republic  

• Standardization of sustainability reporting methodology and translation of the GHG Protocol into Czech and its consistent implementation into Czech practice 

• Conveying the views of the Czech business community on sustainability and ESG to the general public:  

• Raising awareness of sustainability and ESG at the national and regional levels  

• Education in the field of sustainability and ESG
