Background information
The UK Business Council for Sustainable Development is an active champion for UK sustainable development enterprise and technological innovation, an authority on sector skills development and best practice. We support and promote interventional, disruptive technologies which can inspire and enable a sustainable Britain. In dialogue with Government across the UK, we aim to be recognised as a lead influencer across the breadth of sustainable development policy and we apply this position strongly to advocate the role of sustainable development as an essential driver for prosperous communities.
Our focus 2018/19
UKBCSD is focusing on two important themes, ‘Sustainable Britain’ and ‘Research and Innovation’. In doing so we are convening a team of Ambassadors, leaders in their field, bringing commitment, passion and expertise to the national policy agenda. Harnessing the fullest range of activity across the economic, skills and research spectrum, they will be advocates for the unique technical capability both available and needed, to promote a sustainable Britain. Their work will develop and define responses to the emerging national environmental and economic policy. Being focused on the delivery of Resources and Product, our workstreams draw upon the following interconnected, policy themes, and specialist assets:
Challenging the status quo
We are bringing together major commercial businesses as well as public sector organisations and, together, taking a ‘disruptor’ approach, challenging business and Government to refresh their thinking that, sustainability benefits Britain. Through enabling the disruptive technologies of today we aim to enhance the quality of peoples’ lives and the utility of the places designed for tomorrow.
