2030 Milestone for the Ecological Transition (ETE 2030 – Étape 2030 de la Transition Écologique) by Entreprises pour l’Environnement, offers a global view of the actions required to put France on a credible ecological transition trajectory by 2030, in line with French and European commitments on climate and biodiversity, and with the “Ecological Planning” policy led by the French government.
While the year 2023 broke heat records, scientific community state that neither France nor any other country is on an emission reduction trajectory aligned with the Paris Agreement commitments. The French High Council on Climate warns that greenhouse gas emissions reduction rate is insufficient to meet the decarbonization trajectory. Furthermore, while reducing emissions is already a major priority, new challenges lie ahead such as preserving biodiversity and resources, adapting to climate change, and involving the citizens in the transition effort.
