The Food Loss and Waste (FLW) metric (in beta) enables companies to track food loss and waste in order to start reducing these losses at the farm-level. This metrics model is most appropriate for agribusinesses upstream, operating at farm-level or closest to farm-gate. Reduced food loss and waste, especially at source, translates into reductions in costs, GHG emissions, water use, land, energy and other natural resources. This metric was produced by the Cool Farm Alliance in partnership with WRAP, the World Resources Institute and the Sustainable Food Lab with funding from the Rockefeller Foundation.
