The Stockholm Resilience Centre (SRC) at Stockholm University and the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) have launched their MOOC (massive open online course)

titled Planetary Boundaries and Human Opportunities: The Quest for a Safe and Just Operating Space on a Resilient Planet. The MOOC features professionally produced lectures from top sustainability scientists, such as Stockholm Resilience Centre Executive Director JohanRockström. The course is open now and available with all content available until January the 25th2015. The course covers key sustainability science topics of interest to business leaders, such as: the Anthropocene, social-ecological systems thinking, planetary boundaries and resilience thinking. Business engagement in the sustainability challenge is moving beyond corporate social responsibility and the three isolated pillars of ‘society, economy and environment.’ This has beenrecognised by the WBCSD who are engaged in a collaborative partnership with the Stockholm Resilience Centre.

This course will equip business leaders with a unique conceptual toolbox for tackling the complex sustainability decisions they face every day. Johan Rockström says; “This is a unique opportunity for anyone, located anywhere around the world to learn about state of the art thinking on global sustainability challenges and solutions. We are very excited by the opportunity to develop this course in partnership with SDSN.” Currently this course has attracted over 5000 participants from over 200 countries including a number of senior executives engaged in sustainability topics.
