To support the forest sector implementation of the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) recommendations, members of the Forest Solutions Group led the development of the TNFD additional guidance for the forest sector, in collaboration with TNFD Taskforce members, Global Canopy, and with technical support from PwC Canada.
This guidance forms part of the implementation phase of WBCSD’s Forest Sector Nature Positive Roadmap with the overall aim to develop tools and guidance to support businesses in the forest sector in scaling up actions to halt and reverse nature loss, including setting science-based goals and targets for nature, and disclosing progress.
The TNFD additional guidance for the forest sector provides tailored information on implementing the TNFD recommendations, including examples on how to apply the TNFD LEAP (Scoping, Locate, Evaluate, Assess and Prepare) Approach and relevant tools and other resources.
Proposed disclosure sector metrics are included as part of the guidance. These provide tailored specifications to support businesses in the forest sector to disclose on the TNFD core global disclosure metrics, as well as additional recommendations on sector-specific metrics.
The guidance will be available for consultation by a wider community of stakeholders until Friday, 29 March 2024. You can provide your feedback via the TNFD portal.
After the consultation deadline, a refined version of the guidance is expected to be published in Q3 2024.
