Jeff brings his extensive sustainability, strategy and organizational development experience to support the EVP – Pathways and Pathway teams. His role is to ensure Vision 2050 and Strategy 2030 are appropriately reflected in the Pathway strategies and programs; and to support the organisation as it evolves to meet the challenges of delivering transformation. Recently Jeff has been working closely with Food & Ag on their strategy refresh and with Products & Materials as they go through some difficult transitions.
Jeff was previously Corporate VP Sustainability at DSM and accordingly LD at WBCSD since 2016. During this time, Jeff fully embedded sustainability leadership into corporate strategy such that DSM become one of the top-5 stocks held in ESG funds and a leader on key ESG benchmarks. Notable achievements include leading the setting of a Science Based Target (first major chemical company to do so) and ensuring year-on-year delivery, achieving auditor Reasonable Assurance on all non-financial metrics and disclosure (one of the first companies to do so, requiring significant organizational change), implementing portfolio sustainability assessments linked to executive remuneration, and co-leading significant cultural transformation. As WBCSD LD, Jeff led his team to co-develop the FReSH program in F&A and to co-lead the development of CTI (circular transition indicators), both key flagship projects today.
Jeff holds a Batchelor’s Degree in Engineering and has attended (and contributed content) to strategy and sustainability programs at Yale, Kellogg Business School in the US and IMD in Europe. He is currently co-developing a circularity case study with INSEAD.
Jeff was born in the UK but has lived most of his childhood and all his adult working life in several European countries. Married with two adult children, Jeff’s career included leadership positions in business, innovation, strategy and communications in multinational corporations (DuPont and DSM). Jeff also co-founded and ran a materials business development consultancy headquartered in Switzerland for several years and was Managing Director of Brand Finance Switzerland.
Active pursuits include hiking and cycling. (I used to say mountain biking and football, but the knees don’t work like they used to). I follow geo-politics closely as well as developments in our fields of interest – climate, nature & inequality.
